Meet the Directors

Founding Director
Jascha Oldham-Selak
Continuing the family name in Winemaking, The Croatian ‘Selak’ dynasty has paved the foundations of today’s NZ Wine industry.
It all began with an idea back in 2014 - Inspired during his 4 year concurrent degree studies of Viticulture and Oenology - Jascha discovered his affection for Traditional sparkling winemaking. Vilaura was soon born after graduation early 2018 and has since been his single focus.
Throughout his decade in the NZ wine industry, Jascha has gained winemaking experience with many renowned wine companies across the country while also establishing himself as an independent consultant winemaker to other sparkling wine brands.
With firm entrepreneurial spirit, Jascha has been quietly laying down bottles of Vilaura year by year, since the first harvest in 2019, with a strong vision to provide NZ with a wine worthy of celebration.

Managing Director
Sanne Witteveen
From Dutch heritage and a strong background in hospitality management, Sanne began her quest in winemaking in 2015.
Her path met with Jascha’s in 2017 where they immediately began collaborating together as students to produce small scale batches of Methode Traditionelle wines. Having graduated from her 3 year degree in Oenology in 2019, Sanne has been strongly career focused working her way up into the winemaking teams of both large and small NZ wine companies.
With Vilaura in mind, Sanne lived and worked in Champagne during the Harvest of 2022 which ultimately became the turning point of focussing her winemaking career entirely towards Methode Traditionelle.
Sanne now holds the reins of Vilaura and together with Jascha she has helped produce Vilaura’s more recent wines and evolve the brand to what it has become to this day.
